2019<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ekit-team-modal-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tProfessor Zaynab Alkali is an internationally acclaimed Nigerian novelist and scholar, widely recognized as the first female novelist from Northern Nigeria. A distinguished Professor of English and African Literature, she has made remarkable contributions to literature, higher education, women's empowerment, and academic leadership over a career spanning several decades.\nBorn in 1950 in northern Nigeria, Professor Alkali received her university education at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and later earned a doctorate in African Literature from Bayero University, Kano. She began her academic career in the university system after serving as Headmistress of Shekara Girls' Boarding School in Kano and went on to teach at the University of Maiduguri for over two decades before joining the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) as a Deputy Director. In 2004, she joined Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) as a Professor of English.\nAt Nasarawa State University, Professor Alkali held several key leadership positions, including Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) from 2005 to 2009, and Acting Vice-Chancellor in 2006. She also served as Director \u2013 Centre for Gender Studies.\nProfessor Alkali is the author of several celebrated literary works, including The Stillborn, The Virtuous Woman, Cobwebs and Other Stories, The Descendants, The Initiates, and Invisible Borders. Her writings, which explore the experiences, resilience, and aspirations of African women within changing social and cultural contexts, have been translated into several international languages and remain widely studied across universities in Africa and beyond.\nA passionate advocate for women's rights and education, Professor Alkali has worked with academic institutions, government agencies, and civil society organizations to promote inclusive development and gender-responsive policies. Mainoma<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"ekit-team-modal-position\">2019 - 2021 &amp; 2022 - 2026<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ekit-team-modal-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tProfessor Hauwa'u Muhammad Mainoma is a distinguished Nigerian academic, educational administrator, gender advocate, and development practitioner with an extensive career in teaching, research, university administration, and community service. She is the Head of Department in the Department of Educational Administration and Planning, Faculty of Education, Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), where she has made significant contributions to educational leadership, gender studies, and institutional development.\nBorn on 11 March 1976 in Lafia, Nasarawa State, Professor Mainoma hails from Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State and was born into the family of Alhaji Muazu Maifata.\nShe began her educational journey at St. Theresa Primary School, Jos, before attending Government Secondary School (GSS) Laranto, Jos, GSS Dogon Bauchi, Zaria, and GSS Kofar Gayan, Zaria for her secondary education.\nProfessor Mainoma obtained the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) from the Federal College of Education, Zaria, and subsequently earned a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Home Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She further obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Administration and Planning from the University of Abuja and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Educational Administration and Planning from Nasarawa State University, Keffi.\nDriven by a passion for interdisciplinary learning and financial management, she later earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Accounting from Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and also a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Accounting at the same institution.\nThroughout her professional career, Professor Mainoma has served in several academic and administrative capacities. She taught at the Ahmadu Bello University Staff School and the University of Abuja Staff School before joining Nasarawa State University, Keffi, where she has held numerous strategic positions, including:\n\u2022\tStaff, Examinations and Records Unit\n\u2022\tStaff, Establishment Division of the Registry\n\u2022\tPioneer Alumni Relations Officer\n\u2022\tPioneer Diploma Secretary\n\u2022\tFaculty Officer, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences\n\u2022\tHOD, Department of Educational Administration and Planning\nProfessor Mainoma has demonstrated exceptional leadership in advancing gender equality and inclusive education. She served as Director, Centre for Gender Studies, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, from 2019\u20132021 and again from 2022\u20132026. \nHer commitment to expanding educational opportunities led to the launch of the Girl-Child Education Campaign in November 2017, an initiative dedicated to promoting access to quality education for girls. She also founded the Maifata Educational Foundation, through which she provides educational support and learning opportunities for underprivileged children and orphans.\nProfessor Mainoma is a passionate advocate for women's empowerment and educational development.
