Professor Hauwa'u Muhammad Mainoma is a distinguished Nigerian academic, educational administrator, gender advocate, and development practitioner with an extensive career in teaching, research, university administration, and community service. She is the Head of Department in the Department of Educational Administration and Planning, Faculty of Education, Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), where she has made significant contributions to educational leadership, gender studies, and institutional development. Born on 11 March 1976 in Lafia, Nasarawa State, Professor Mainoma hails from Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State and was born into the family of Alhaji Muazu Maifata. She began her educational journey at St. Theresa Primary School, Jos, before attending Government Secondary School (GSS) Laranto, Jos, GSS Dogon Bauchi, Zaria, and GSS Kofar Gayan, Zaria for her secondary education. Professor Mainoma obtained the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) from the Federal College of Education, Zaria, and subsequently earned a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Home Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She further obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Administration and Planning from the University of Abuja and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Educational Administration and Planning from Nasarawa State University, Keffi. Driven by a passion for interdisciplinary learning and financial management, she later earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Accounting from Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and also a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Accounting at the same institution. Throughout her professional career, Professor Mainoma has served in several academic and administrative capacities. She taught at the Ahmadu Bello University Staff School and the University of Abuja Staff School before joining Nasarawa State University, Keffi, where she has held numerous strategic positions, including: • Staff, Examinations and Records Unit • Staff, Establishment Division of the Registry • Pioneer Alumni Relations Officer • Pioneer Diploma Secretary • Faculty Officer, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences • HOD, Department of Educational Administration and Planning Professor Mainoma has demonstrated exceptional leadership in advancing gender equality and inclusive education. She served as Director, Centre for Gender Studies, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, from 2019–2021 and again from 2022–2026. Her commitment to expanding educational opportunities led to the launch of the Girl-Child Education Campaign in November 2017, an initiative dedicated to promoting access to quality education for girls. She also founded the Maifata Educational Foundation, through which she provides educational support and learning opportunities for underprivileged children and orphans. Professor Mainoma is a passionate advocate for women's empowerment and educational development. She has participated in numerous television and radio programmes discussing issues relating to women, education, and the girl-child, including appearances on NTA Keffi, Maloney FM, and the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS).
